چکیده

An experiment was carried out with SHAVER Starbro broiler parent stock from one day old to the point of peak production to investigate the growth, early laying performance and their adaptability during brooding, growing and early laying periods. The experimental period was divided into five phases, phase I (0 – 2 week), phase II (3 – 8 week), phase III (9 – 22 week), phase IV (23 – sexual maturity), phase V (sexual maturity to peak production). The experiment was carried out in an open sided house and management practices of birds were close to the recommendation of the broiler breeder. It may be concluded that it is possible to achieve standard body weight of SHAVER Starbro broiler parent stock under Bangladesh condition even sometimes with lower amounts of feed allocations as specified by breeder. The birds reach sexual maturity at 31 week, later than the breeder’s standard (23 week) and the persistency in peak production is shorter but egg weight ranges from 53g to 60g, suitable for hatching. Mycoplasmosis appears to be major health problem, affecting performance. Use of sand is not suitable as a litter material for the management, as the birds consume a lot of sand under restricted feeding program. It may be suggested that SHAVER Starbro broiler parent stock could be reared under Bangladesh condition for the production of hatching eggs.

Growth Performance of Kasila Broiler Parent Stock Reared on Quantitative Feed Restriction under Bangladesh Condition

A total of 201 Kasila broiler parent chicks were reared in an open-sided house from one-day to 22 weeks of age and growth performance and uniformity were monitored. The birds were maintained on quantitative feed restriction and their adaptability was evaluated. The experimental period was divided into three phases, phase I (day-old to 2 weeks), phase II (3 to 8 weeks) and phase III (9 to 22 wee...

Application of Sinusoidal Equations to Partitioning Crude Protein and Metabolizable Energy Intake between Maintenance and Growth in Parent Stock of Broiler Chickens

Most models developed for poultry are linear to the point where genetic potential is reached. Models reliant on the premise that growth rate determines requirements based on some fixed rate of nutrient utilization do not adequately represent the biological phenomena involved. Therefore, a dichotomy between the accepted theories of nutrient utilization in animals and the assumptions of mathemati...

Introduction of a Greenhouse as an Alternative Housing System to a Conventional House and Its Impact on Broiler Performance and Blood and Carcass Variables

A study was conducted to compare the growth performance as well as blood and carcass variables of two broiler strains reared in a conventional broiler house and a modified greenhouse equipped with cooling pads and tunnel ventilation system. Eight hundred day-old chickens of two commercial strains (Ross  308 and Lohmann) were selected and placed in  8 floor pens (4 pens of  50 broilers for each ...

Evaluation of Growth Performance, Carcass Characteristics, Litter Quality and Foot Lesions of Broilers Reared under High Stocking Densities

Two repeated experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of different stocking densities onbroiler performance, carcass characteristics, litter quality and foot lesionsusing 5224 one day-old Ross 308 broilers. In each experiment, a total of 2612 one day-old broilers were allocated in 16 floor pens at densities of 16, 18, 20 and 22 birds/m2 of floor space in an environmentally controll...

تأثیر شدت محدودیت غذایی در سنین اولیه و افزایش تراکم مواد مغذی جیره پس از اعمال محدودیت بر عملکرد جوجه‌های گوشتی

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of intensity of restricted early feed and increased nutrient density after restriction period on performance and compensatory growth in broilers. Two hundred and eighty-eight broiler (Lohman) chicks in a completely randomized design in a 2*3 factorial arrangement of treatments were employed. Birds were fully fed from 7 to 13d or 100% of a...
